Abstract:This paper divides the late quaternary strata along coast of Bohai bay, and discusses its Lithofacies Paleogeography and Neotectonic characteristics, based on lithology and sedimentary texture of 4 boreholes penetrated the late quaternary stata, with 14C ages of peats and humus mud, micropaleontology and palynology, and the theory of climatic stratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy. There ara nine units, corresponding respectively Marine Isotope Stage 5e (MIS5e), MIS5d、MIS5c、MIS5b、MIS5a、MIS4、MIS3、MIS2 and MIS1 in ascending order. Transgressions have occurred in MIS5e、MIS5c、MIS3 and MIS1. Marsh and interfluve and lagoon have been formed when MIS5e because of river action equivalent to sea action. Interfluve and river and sand bank-lagoon have been formed when MIS5c because of river action better than sea action. Marine sediment thickness of 7-8m has been formed when sea level rising in early stage of MIS3, and then river and sand bank and lagoon have been formed when sea level falling in late stage of MIS3 because of river action strengthening. Marine sediment thickness of 10-15m has been formed in north and west coast, lagoon sediment thickness of 3m has been formed in south coast. The ancient Yellow river deltas have prograded form the south to north in coast of Bohai bay. The hard clay and interfluves have been formed when sea level falling in MIS5d、MIS5b and MIS2. Marsh have been formed during the last deglaciation because of sea level rising. Differential subsidence is a mainly characteristics along coast of Bohai bay during the late quaternary. The differential subsidence rate of the southern Huanghua depression and Chengning uplift reaches 0.16mm/a, and the differential subsidence rate of the northern and middle in Huanghua depression reaches 0.31mm/a.The period of tectonically activity happened in MIS5c.
