Abstract:In order to enhance the geologic safety of Beijing, we have decided to approach it respectively in three steps: approaching the thoughts and methods on seismogeology research by deep borehole crustal stress measuring and real time monitoring; primarily establishing the general plan for developing deep borehole crustal stress measuring and real time monitoring at key tectonic locations in the Beijing region; analyzing and contrasting the measuring and monitoring data to obtain the crustal stress information of an earthquake. The crustal stress measuring and monitoring data primarily reflect the present crustal stress backgrounds in shallow upper crust. The relative variations of crustal stress magnitude and underground water, especially the forewarning crustal stress variations beforeJapan’s Ms9 0 earthquake on March 11, 2011, were completely recorded at Pinggu crustal stress comprehensive monitoring station, which provides valuable data for seismogeology research. Through analyzing and contrasting the measuring and monitoring data at different key tectonic locations around Beijing, we have found that the data are in abnormal state at Changli county in Hebei Province. In addition, we have holistically studied the causative backgrounds of earthquakes that have happened around Tangshan and its outskirts in 2012 and 2013. From these researches and evaluations, we conclude that the present tectonic activity is abnormal along the zone from Tangshan to Luanxian to Changli, and greater attention should be paid to Changli area.
