It has been regarded that Lower Cambrian rocks were mainly from northeastern Hannan Oldland and/or northwestern Motianling Oldland (known as Bikou terrane) in the Micangshan area. However,evidences about the lithofacies palaeogeography challenged it. Gray mudstone and limestone with horizontal bedding were deposited in lagoon. Gray thick- bedded oolitic limestone developed planar crossbedding and herringbone cross bedding. Those sediments were oolitic shoal environment. Gray thick- bedded brecciaed limestone and nodular limestone with slump structure were deposited in carbonate slope. The sedimentary environments of Xiannüdong Formation are mainly oolitic shoal and carbonate slope. North of the Fuqing- Zhengyuan- Daliang- Yangba- Qiaoting, ancient environment transited from lagoon and oolitic shoal to carbonate slope, whose water becomes deep gradually. The tidal directions of crossbedding restoration are southwest and northwest. Heavy mineral composite and Electron Probe Microanalysis (EPMA) results show that the parent rocks of different sources are both characterized by granite and their associated pegmatites and aplites, metapelites and metapsanmmites. Combined paleogeography with source directions, the provenance of the Xiannüdong Formation is mainly from northwestern Bikou terrane and southwestern Kangdian Oldland.
