Dongqiao ophiolite is located at the middle segment of the BangongNujiang suture zone. SHRIMP Ⅱ technique is applied to UPb zircon dating of the gabbro from the Dongqiao ophiolite. The result shows that the age of the gabbro is 187.3±3.7Ma. This age stands for the formation time of the ocean basin of Dongqiao Tethys and provides a well chronology constraint on the palaeotectonics framework and the evolution of the Tethys basin in the studied area.
