This study is based on the reservoir description，because the description can provide a great number of macro—and micro—parameters for reservoir evaluation and petroleum ex— ploration and development．In the reservoir description of the Central Uplift Belt in the DongpW Depression south of the Yellow River，the authors have develoPed the techniques of reservoir description at the exploration stage，the rolling exploration—development stage and the esrly development Stage．Several dozens of“parameters have been obtained from the reservoir description．They include the sealing capacity of the faults，reservoir geometry， pore structure，effective thickness，crude oil properties，hydrocarbon‘productivity and so on．More than ten quantitative parameters have been selected as the avaluation criteria． More than one hundred reservoirs have been classified into four types．The results of the evaluation have been applied in petroleum’"exploration and development in the study area and good results have been,achieved．
