This paper for the first time reports plant fossils in coal measures of the Pingzhuang basin, Inner Mongolia and discusses their nature, characteristics and distribution. This flora is correlated with those in related strata. The age of this flora is considered to be early Early Cretaceous, when the Pingzhuang area might be situated in a warm temperate zone of the northern hemisphere. This study has provided a reliable paleontological basis for reconstructng the paleogeogra-phy, paleoclimate and paleo-environment and summing up coal-forming regularities in the area.
