Describing and detecting reservoir heterogeneities below seismic resolution require modelling techniques. A variety of modelling techniques have been develo ped. The commonly used techniques fall into three broad categories：conceptual， geostatistic/statistic and process - response simulation. This paper reviews and discusses the main aspects of these techniques and their applications with exam ples from North Sea fluvial reservoirs.
