The nappe structure of the Funiu Mountains is an important structure in Qinling orogenic belt. It is formed by three structural zones. There are a lot of strong folds and reversed faults in the front zone of this nappe structure. The Luonan-Luanchuan fault is the demarcation line between the front zone and the middle zone. The middle zone consists of typical structures in the Luanchuan area, which show duplex structures. The Zhuyuangou-Zushimiao fault is the line of demarcation between the middle zone and the root zone. There are a lot of deep-seated rocks in the root zone. The nappe structure of the Funiu Mountains was formed in the late Yanshanian to the early Himalayan. It is a product of the continuous northward subduction of the Yangtze plate and the southward intracontinental subduction of the North China plate and also the result of superposition of structures of different ages and features.
