Based on the experience of 20 years, the applicability of different chronol ogical methods and some problems concerning the dating of Mesozoic and Cenozoic volcanic rocks were reviewed. Also, some new tests on young volcanic rock dating were i ntroduced in terms of several successful examples. Different dating methods have advanta ges and also some limitations. It is possible to obtain authentic ag es throu gh comprehensive contrast between different methods with the development of tech nology in the dating of Mesozoic and Cenozoic volcanic rocks.
