The great majority of GIS software platforms are based on vector structure; ther efore, realizing weighted evidence modeling for mineral resource prognosis in v ector\|structure GIS has a practical significance. In this paper, an algorithm for evidence modeling in vectored GIS is preliminarily investigated. Using MapInfo as the software platform, a computer program of the method is designed in the second\|developed language MapBasic provided by the software platform; therefore, researchers in mineral resource prognosis based on GIS may carry out weighting of evidence modeling and mineral potential mapping in MapInfo software platform
