Geological and metallogenetic processes are violently asymmetrical, th us the recognition of geophysical, geological and geochemical background and ano maly must use zooming windows. The algorithm of moving average is easy. Its prin ciple is easy to be understood and the results are facile to explain. U sing the moving average with zooming windows can relieve users from compl icated calculations. Zooming windows can be determined by the experimental semivariation function. The moving average method is benefitial to improve the estimation precision, and recognizing the background and anomaly much more reasonably. It is also propitious to reducing the area of prospecting target
