Having repeatedly investigated for more than ten years, the author of this paper found a lot of boulders and dropstones within the Quaternary reticulate red clay in the onshore area and the nearshore hilly areas of the Dongting Lake. There are many round pits (potholes) on the surface of granite in Dawei Mountain, Liuyang City. Considering the previous research on Quaternary climate information aound Dongting Lake, writer believes that there were mountain glacial activities in Hunan Province in the Quaternary time, and this can also confirm that there were Quaternary glaciations in the middle—low mountainous area in the east of China.
