Based on the research on the establishment and achievements of the Soil Research Office of the Geological Survey Institute, this paper expounds the origin of soil research in China, the outstanding achievements made in the soil research office in a short period of time, and the exploration of interdisciplinary research fields. These experiences and achievements have left precious wealth for later generations. Moreover, the spirit embodied has become an excellent gene of geological culture, encouraging geologists to play an active role in serving the national economy and people’s livelihood in the new era of geology.
